What to Visit if You Stay in an Apartment in Valencia City Centre

Do you want to discover everything the centre of Valencia has to offer?

We’ve gathered the must-sees so that on your next trip you won’t miss a thing, experiencing the city naturally, at your own pace – as if you lived there.

It’s the best way to discover it without rushing.

The Historic Centre

If you’ve chosen a central apartment, your first stop is just a few steps away: Plaza de la Virgen. Surrounded by the Cathedral, the Basilica of the Virgin of the Forsaken and the Palace of the Generalitat, it’s a place where the city reveals its true essence.

Nearby, you’ll find the Cathedral and the famous Miguelete, a bell tower steeped in history and a true symbol of Valencia. The perfect plan is to stroll through the El Carmen neighbourhood, with its graffiti, bars and lively squares.

The advantage of staying in a central apartment, such as those from SingularStays, is being able to walk everywhere and return at any time to rest, drop off shopping bags or grab a drink before heading back out.

Must-Try Food and Drinks

Horchata

Horchatería Santa Catalina (near Plaza de la Reina), the most traditional, where you can enjoy horchata with freshly baked fartons.

Agua de Valencia

Café de las Horas, a few minutes from the Cathedral, famous for serving the best version of this cava-based cocktail with orange juice, gin and vodka.

Typical food

Taberna El Olivo (El Carmen, traditional tapas), La Riua (specialised in paellas and rice dishes, near Plaza de la Virgen), Central Bar by Ricard Camarena (inside Mercado Central).

Mercado Central and La Lonja de la Seda

The Central Market is a must, both for its impressive building and the atmosphere inside. One of Europe’s oldest markets still in use, it’s a feast of colours and aromas.

It is one of the oldest markets in Europe still operating, and walking among its stalls is a spectacle of scents and colours. It’s the perfect place to taste fresh products or buy a snack before lunch.

Opposite the market stands La Lonja de la Seda, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This Gothic civil building is worth a visit for its history and beautiful columns and halls.

La Lonja is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10:00 to 19:00, and on Sundays and public holidays from 10:00 to 14:00. It is closed on Mondays.

General admission costs just €2, with a reduced rate of €1 for students, pensioners and large families. What’s more, entry is free on Sundays and holidays – perfect for a morning plan before heading back home.

Turia Gardens

The Turia Gardens are another stop you can’t miss.

They are the former riverbed, now transformed into the city’s largest park, with kilometres of green areas, running tracks, cycle lanes and play zones.

It’s an ideal space both to relax and to explore Valencia in a different way, whether on foot, by bike or on a scooter.

From the centre, you can easily reach the park, making it a perfect excuse to combine culture and nature in the same day. In fact, a common plan is to see the historic centre in the morning, then enter the gardens and walk through them all the way to the City of Arts and Sciences.

Ruzafa

Ruzafa has become Valencia’s trendiest neighbourhood, full of restaurants, original cafés, unique shops and a creative atmosphere that makes it special.

From your central apartment, you can reach it on foot in just a few minutes – a perfect plan for afternoons and evenings.

It’s ideal for dinner, drinks and visiting some of its pubs to enjoy the lively vibe.

For a special dinner, try Canalla Bistro, by chef Ricard Camarena, which blends Valencian tradition with international touches. If you prefer something simpler but authentic, Bar Vermúdez is perfect for tapas and, as its name suggests, a good vermouth.

For lovers of international cuisine, Nozomi is a benchmark Japanese restaurant in Valencia, while Tora offers Mexican flavours in a modern atmosphere. If you’re looking for Mediterranean, Lambrusquería is a classic stop.

After dinner, Ruzafa invites you to continue the night in one of its charming venues. At Café Berlín, you can enjoy cocktails in a fun atmosphere, while Ubik Café combines a bookshop, art and drinks to create a unique place.

If you prefer something livelier, pubs like Play Club or XL Disco Pub keep the night going.

The best part? The proximity of your accommodation means you can enjoy Ruzafa without worrying about schedules or transport. Go out for dinner, take a stroll and return on foot to your SingularStays apartment. That convenience makes all the difference.
